Meet your 2026 Board of Directors!
Name: Lisa Howard
At-Large Member, Berkley Area Chamber of Commerce
What do you love most about Berkley?
Berkley is very walkable and friendly, plus it's so conveniently located that I can walk to THREE libraries: Berkley, Huntington Woods, and Royal Oak! To me, the library is the heart of any city.
What do you love most about owning or working at a business in or around Berkley?
I've enjoyed being involved in the Chamber for many years. We have enough businesses for
things to always be interesting but not so many that I feel like a minnow lost in a stream. It's a
good blend of small-enough-but-big-enough.
When you're not working and spending time with your family and friends, what activities bring you joy?
Latin dancing, cooking, reading, studying languages, and traveling abroad.
What is your hype song?
Cuban songs that are perfect for dancing Ueda.
What's your go-to dish when you eat out in Berkley/Oak Park?
The quinoa and arugula salad with blue cheese and pistachios at Republica.
If you had $1,000 to donate to a charity, which one would you give it to and why are they awesome?
Planned Parenthood! Because reproductive rights are basic human rights.
What do you love most about the Chamber?
I feel like as a medium-size Chamber, we're able to take on more initiatives and get more
creative because we can get to know our businesses and what they want/need.
"As a home business, it's been incredibly beneficial to get out and network and meet my fellow business (and nonprofit) owners and operators over the year, plus it's been an honor
to be part of maintaining and creating our city's successful events like At Bash and Street
Fest. Being on the Board makes me feel much more connected to the entire community."
